I don’t know about you ladies but I am DEFINITELY not a morning person! For some reason, I have no problem staying up until 2am but if you need me out of bed before 8:00, it’s going to be a battle. So, whenever I find a trick that allows me to snooze for just a few more minutes I am all ears and will try literally anything. Here are 4 of my favorites which have become a staple for me!
1) Drink a 5 Minute Breakfast Smoothie
Whenever I’m late in the morning, I always find that eating a healthy breakfast is one of the first things to be cut out. Countless studies have shown that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you’re sleeping at night, the body essentially goes into a mini fast meaning that when you wake-up your cells are in serious need of some nutrition! Eating a proper breakfast stabilizes your body’s energy levels throughout the day and is better for your metabolism. Ultimately, this leads to us feeling, looking and thinking better!
My personal go to in the morning to ensure that I get enough nutrition is a breakfast smoothie with a meal replacement formula. The recipe that I use is below but you can really use whatever you like! Personally, I love the formula from Vega One as it’s entirely plant-based (yay vegan!), provides me with 6 (!!) servings of veggies and blends nice and smoothly.
- ½ cup of frozen berries (a raspberry, blueberry, cherry blend is my fav)
- 1 scoop of vanilla VegaOne Meal Replacement
- 1 cup of un-sweetened almond milk (or apple juice)
- 1 tablespoon ground chia seeds
Combine all ingredients in your single-serve or stand-up blender. Blend thoroughly until smooth, adding more almond milk if desired. Enjoy immediately!
2) Wear Moisturizer with SPF
Yes girls, your mother was right. It really is so so so important to moisturize every day and to wear your sunscreen. This is why I love moisturizers with SPF so much (kill two birds with one stone!). Moisturizing is key in anti-aging by improving skin tone and texture and helping to mask imperfections. Especially in the winter time with the dry air, I find myself reaching for some skin hydration every morning.
3) Get Some Fake Lashes
OK so this isn’t exactly a “morning” hack but it’s a beauty trick that definitely allows me to hit a snooze button a few more times. I love being able to wake up and have my eyes already pop without the need for adding mascara/eyeliner. Most days, I’m able to get away with just a bit of concealer, powder, bronzer and some lip colour before heading out the door. I always go for the synthetic mink lashes as they’re cruelty free while also being super light-weight for my eyes.
