Tea Tree Oil
Probably the most common essential oil used in the formulation of acne treatment products. The chemicals contained in tea tree oil (terpene hydrocarbons, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, etc) kill bacteria and fungus.
Effect: Helps to treat acne, reduce allergic reaction and skin irritations, cure eczema and psoriasis, and bacterial and fungal infections.
Uses: Use a diffuser for an uplifting scent, apply on your skin (make sure to dilute with a carrier oil such as coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, olive oil and avocado oil), use it as a hand sanitizer (check out a DIY recipe), or as an all-natural deodorant (recipe). Check out our makeup remover oil for Oily Skin, which utilizes the antibacterial properties of tea tree to reduce blemishes.
